CONDEMNING RELIGIOUS AND CASTE DISCRIMINATION AT WORKPLACES

The All India IT Employees Union (AIITEU) strongly condemns the recent instances of religious and caste harassment and discrimination in major companies.

The untimely demise of Shri Vivek Raj due to the casteist harassment he was facing in Lifestyle Pvt Ltd is tragic. We stand in solidarity with the family of the deceased and urge the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and take the strictest action against those found guilty of promoting discrimination in the workplace.

We also condemn the reported incidents of religious discrimination at Apple India, where an employee had alleged mental harassment due to Islamophobia, and subsequent HR inaction.

It is disheartening to see that despite the repeated complaints filed by the employees, the management failed to take any action to address these issues.

All organizations must ensure a safe and inclusive workplace environment, free from any form of discrimination based on religion, caste, gender, or any other factor. Stricter enforcement against such discrimination under existing laws and the Right to Equality under the Constitution must be implemented. Discrimination of any kind has no place in the workplace and must be appropriately dealt with.

AIITEU stands firmly with the employee and urges the authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and take the strictest action against those found guilty.

We also urge any employee to reach out to us for assistance if facing discrimination and inaction from your organization.
